Austin Beaufoy, le nouveau client de Grace, conseillère en stratégie publicitaire, fait partie de la noblesse européenne. En plus d'être l'héritier d'un domaine viticole valant un milliard de dollars, il est aussi l'ex-petit ami qui l'a plaquée il y a un an ! Elle qui refusait de renouer avec son ex, voilà que l'abruti qui l'a larguée sans ménagement se comporte comme son petit chien... Il pense à tort qu'elle est folle d'un autre, et ça le rend malade de jalousie. Il est loin de se douter que son " remplaçant " n'est autre que le meilleur ami gay de Grace ! Elle refuse de se justifier, mais Austin ne cesse de réclamer leur réconciliation à cor et à cri. Il s'avère que leur séparation, il y a un an, est plus mystérieuse qu'il n'y paraît, et que tout ce qu'il a fait depuis était pour elle...
